Season's Greetings!

As the temperatures drop and the snow flies in northern Michigan, we've been enjoying traveling to projects in warmer climes including California, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Tennessee. One of our largest such projects has just wrapped up with installation of a signage system for downtown Tulsa, the second-largest city in Oklahoma and home to more than 380,000 people.

Tulsa system reflects Art Deco architecture

A new system of vehicular and pedestrian wayfinding signs in downtown Tulsa draws its design inspiration and color palette from the city's abundance of Art Deco architecture, including the Jazz Hall of Fame and downtown lampposts.

The 148 signs include welcome identifiers, vehicular directional signs, parking identifiers and pedestrian kiosks. They direct to major public venues including the new Bank of Oklahoma Center, designed by renowned architect Cesar Pelli.

The project's $740,000 cost was funded through the city's Third Penny tax, a one-cent sales tax whose revenues are dedicated to funding capital improvement projects. The signs were fabricated and installed by Architectural Signing, Inc. of Norcross, Georgia.

Clarian Arnett Hospital signage system

Healing Hands Straight Ahead

When Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana, opened in October, the facility boasted new exterior and interior wayfinding designed and developed by Corbin Design.

Sign types include a 30-foot-tall monument sign with an internally illuminated Clarian symbol and frosted glass tiles, and a 19-foot-tall illuminated version of the Clarian symbol mounted at the top of the seven-story building.

Corbin Design worked on the project in partnership with Gresham Smith Architects, Maregatti Interiors, Jacobs Facilities, Inc. and the Clarian and Arnett teams. The signage was fabricated and installed by the Indianapolis offices of ASI-Modulex Architectural Signage.
