Exterior wayfinding systems that Corbin Design developed for Lehigh Valley Hospital have been installed at the health network’s campuses in Muhlenberg and Cedar Crest.
The new 188-bed Muhlenberg facility hosts a range of enhanced health care services and includes a 260,000-square-foot addition that serves as the new main entrance and houses most patient services. The 195-acre Cedar Crest campus is Lehigh Valley Hospital’s largest, with a new seven-story patient care tower, three new parking decks and a new medical office building. The patient care tower was designed to win LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
Corbin’s mandate was to create clear and consistent wayfinding systems for both campuses while re-using or modifying as many of the existing signs and bases as possible. The systems use graphics incorporating the “Big Blue H” that acts as the main entrance to the Muhlenberg hospital and has become a defining icon for Lehigh Valley Hospital.
The signage for both campuses was fabricated and installed by Reed Sign Company of Pennsburg, Pennsylvania.
