Greenville gets first Fox Cities wayfinding The town of Greenville, Wisconsin, has become the first to install directional and identification signs designed by Corbin as part of a regional visitor wayfinding system for the Fox Cities area. The signs were manufactured by IntelliCAM, a Greenville-based firm, and installed in July. Corbin worked with the Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau to create the system, which divides the Fox Cities into four wayfinding districts—Appleton Area, Heart of the Valley, Lake District and Fox West—and uses a range of sign types to direct visitors to the districts and individual destinations within each. The total cost to build and install the entire system is estimated at about $750,000. Click here for more information... Signs point to the future
The system draws its inspiration from consumer electronics and medical equipment. Layers of translucent acrylic frame the information while softening the signs’ appearance, allowing them to harmonize with the environment while providing critical information. The futuristic design is balanced by rounded corners and edges and tone-on-tone colors. The acrylic used to build the signs works well in healthcare settings since its nonporous surface resists stains and is easily sterilized. The unobtrusive design of the system and its ability to be customized to different environments allow it to be used in other high-tech settings. |
LA Walks Wins SEGD Award Corbin Design’s wayfinding program for downtown Los Angeles, developed with Hunt Design of Pasadena, won a Jury Award from the Society for Environmental Graphic Design in May. The project was overseen by Urban Place Consulting Group of Long Beach. The $2 million program, which encourages people to park their cars and walk around a city notorious for its traffic, directs visitors to 13 districts and to more than 2,000 destinations. The system of 1,300 signs, maps and other wayfinding elements was built and installed by Fluoresco Lighting & Signs. Click here for more information...
