Greetings in 2008! Our new staff picture on the right comes from a summer 2007 tour of wineries on Grand Traverse County’s Old Mission Peninsula. Behind us are the vineyards of Bry’s Estate Vineyard & Winery, overlooking Grand Traverse Bay. We hope the impending arrival of spring finds you in similar good cheer. |

A Hospital Is Reborn Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital opened the doors to its new Prentice Women’s Hospital in October with a new wayfinding system developed by Corbin Design. The system design reflects the hospital’s light and open feeling, with curved translucent acrylic backers mirroring the building’s unique architecture. Electronic kiosks on public floors display changeable directional information and dynamically generated maps to hospital destinations. We also designed exterior signs, including LED-illuminated versions of the Northwestern Memorial monogram up to 12 feet tall, based on existing branding and identification standards. Nordquist Sign Company of Minneapolis fabricated and installed the exterior signage and electronic kiosk cabinets, while the interior sign system was fabricated and installed by APCO Graphics, Inc. of Atlanta. Kiosks were programmed by Galvanon, Inc. of Maitland, Fla. Click here for more information... Staff News Designer Gene Ullery-Smith and Project Coordinator Maureen Berger are Corbin Design’s newest employees. A graphic designer with seven years of experience in interpretive graphics, Gene joined Corbin in December to help with the design of wayfinding projects. Maureen, who has a degree in engineering arts from Michigan State University, started working with Corbin to help manage wayfinding projects in October. |
Business Class Grand Rapids is now one of a handful of locations around the globe that can boast of a JW Marriott, joining other destinations including Cancun, Fiji and Rio de Janeiro as home to one of Marriott International’s high-end hotels. The 24-story hotel, known locally as the JW, also boasts exterior and interior wayfinding developed by Corbin Design. Freestanding electronic kiosks and wall-mounted monitors combine with more traditional signage in aluminum and acrylic to guide hotel guests and convention attendees to their destinations. The system was fabricated and installed by the Troy, Michigan offices of ASI-Modulex Architectural Signage. |
