This global pharmaceutical company needed a prescription
for guiding visitors around its Indianapolis headquarters and Technology
Center campuses, and through its buildings.
Wayfinding challenges include the fact that the
sprawling campuses are subject to ongoing construction with frequent
road closures and
parking lot shifts.
Existing signs varied in appearance and included
no public wayfinding and little identification. It also did a poor
job of reflecting Lilly's
status as an innovative corporation on the cutting edge of pharmaceutical
research.
Corbin's prescription includes creating a corporate
standard that reinforces the brand image and is made available to staff
via
a Web Toolkit.
Specific changes to the wayfinding system include:
- color-coordinating and naming campus parking lots
- developing wayfinding for major public thoroughfares,
identifying decision points, directing drivers to parking and buildings,
and pedestrians to building entrances
- developing wayfinding from truck entrance to docks
and delivery areas
- designing custom signs to identify labs
and personnel, and function as an internal message board
